recently i was given the opportunity to show off my vast knowledge of amateur radio at a stake emergency preparedness expo, as you can see from my display i did not come prepared (my knowledge was equally lacking), my wife and i are the emergency preparedness specialists in are ward, and we were given the name of a ham radio operator in our stake that did this display the previous year, so we thought great he can take care of this display and we can focus on the other assignments that we were given, well after several weeks and no response from our radio guy we found out that he was not going to be in town that weekend but would be more than happy to donate his radio for the display, so i decided to dig out my own radios…
one of my latest projects. we started calling him “rusty” because he has more than his share of rust. at first i was a little disappointed that i had just spent a fair amount of money on something that was going to need a lot more of the green stuff to get rid of the red stuff, but then i thought i would just leave him the way he was, we all have our own little rust spots or blemishes that we try to hide, so when i get asked “hey are you going to restore it” i just say “no i kinda like the way it looks, it reminds me of my own messy past”.
eventually i will replace the pan as time and money allow, i don’t like the idea of my car becoming a flintstone mobile “Yabba Dabba Doo!!!”
